The image of the human body in motion has enchanted artists of all times. With the exhibition SHOW TIME Gl Holtegaard opens a window to dance and choreography in international contemporary art and invites the audience on a sensual journey into the world of motion.
SHOW TIME dwells on its context, an 18th century country house with a baroque garden, to accentuate the architectural and domestic structures that are considered in the selected artworks. Notions of ornate pattern, sequence and elaborate stage – which define the baroque design of Gl Holtegaard’s garden – are central themes in many of the artworks. Furthermore, the artworks and performances give an expanded awareness of how we can come into contact with our surroundings; they demonstrate not only how the body operates within space but how it can be used as an instrument to create space.
Participating artists: Pablo Bronstein (Argentina), Cao Fei (China), Jacqueline Doyen (France/Germany), Inci Eviner (Turkey), Shaun Gladwell (Australia), Nina Saunders (Denmark), Sans façon (France/UK)
