Gammel Holtegaard – art gallery for modern art

Since its establishment in 1993 the independent institution of Gl Holtegaard has drawn attention to itself as one of the central exhibition venues of Greater Copenhagen and the Øresund area. Gl Holtegaard is an art venue with 3–4 changing exhibitions a year. The ambition is to show older, modern and contemporary art that has a message for people of today. Typical of Gl. Holtegaard is that it presents artists; such as Egon Schiele, Camille Claudel, M.C. Escher and Ansel Adams who have not previously been on show to a Danish audience. Thanks to financial support, not least from a number of private funds, it has been possible over the years to put on important exhibitions of both Danish and international art. This is done in close cooperation with museums at home and abroad as well as with private collections.
The lovely baroque garden that surrounds the main building is a popular excursion destination. During the summer months, the garden forms the backdrop for a number of concerts featuring both classical and rhythmical music as well as other events.
